Short Profile

Jan Hermes is a Salary Partner at GLADE MICHEL WIRTZ in the CORPORATE practice. He advises his German and international clients primarily on Mergers & Acquisitions and restructuring work. A further focus of his practice is on corporate litigation and the advice of managers in management participation programs.

Jan Hermes studied law at the University of Münster. He passed his First Legal State Exam in 2002. This was followed by an LL.M. course at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. During his legal trainee course in the Higher Regional Court district of Düsseldorf, Jan Hermes worked at a large international law firm as well as at the German Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. After taking his Second Legal State Exam in 2006, while working on his doctorate thesis Jan Hermes was employed as a lawyer by one of the leading medium-sized law firms in Düsseldorf. In 2009 Jan Hermes received a doctorate in law from the University of Bielefeld with a business law thesis analysing the tension zone between product safety law and product liability law. Since joining us in September 2008, Jan Hermes has been a member of the Corporate team at GLADE MICHEL WIRTZ.

As well as his native German, Jan Hermes is also fluent in English and speaks basic French.

Besides his profession, Jan Hermes is an enthusiastic father of twins and has been planning for some time now to set up his drum kit again.

  • ZF Friedrichshafen on the sale of ZF Luftfahrttechnik to AIRBUS Helicopters
  • Myronic AB on the acquisition of atg Luther & Maelzer from the American company Cohu, Inc.
  • ROVEMA Group on the acquisition of the Indian packaging machine manufacturer Hassia Packaging Pvt. ltd from the IMA S.p.A. group
  • Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH on the acquisition of ROVEMA group from HQ Equita
  • Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH on the formation of a joint venture between CWS-boco and Rentokil Initial
  • Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc on the purchase of Gestra-Group from the American Flowserve Group and the sale of Hygromatik GmbH to CAREL Industries
