Sophia Catharina Gröf

Sophia Catharina Gröf is an Associate in the Competition practice at GLADE MICHEL WIRTZ. She advises German and international clients on all aspects of German and European competition law.

Sophia Catharina Gröf studied law at the University of Düsseldorf, specializing in business law, and passed her first state examination in May 2022. At the same time, she completed a complementary course of study focusing on legal issues relating to artificial intelligence. Subsequently, she obtained an LL.M. in International Business Law from the Université libre de Bruxelles. Her master's thesis focused on a competition law topic in the context of the digital economy.

As part of her legal clerkship, Sophia Catharina Gröf worked at the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission in Brussels, in the competition law team of a leading international law firm in Düsseldorf, and at a notary's office. After completing her second state examination, she is currently pursuing a doctorate in competition law. She is also a member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V. (Antitrust Law Study Association).

In addition to her native language, German, she is fluent in English and has a good command of French. In her free time, she is passionate about running and plays tennis in the Lower Rhine league (Niederheinliga). She also enjoys playing the piano, and spending time with family and friends.
